Applied Music Program
Welcome to the Wooster Music Department and the Applied Music Program for 2018-2019. The music department will be offering 20 thirty-minute lessons to students in all divisions. For more experienced students whose schedules allow, we strongly suggest a forty-five minute lesson as it will allow for greater progress throughout the year.
Rates for lessons are as follows: $40/30 minute lesson ($800/yr), $60/45-minute lesson ($1200/yr).
Lessons are not scheduled until the application and non-refundable deposit have been received by the Wooster Music Department and academic schedules are firm. The sooner we receive your application and deposit the sooner we can start the scheduling process. The deadline to register your child is September 14, 2018.
Students in the Middle and Upper School taking private lessons are graded on the following:
In order for students to make continued progress in their lessons there must be consistency in weekly attendance and regular practice habits. Students, who are at school but fail to come to lessons, without properly notifying their teacher will have that time counted as a no-show for their lessons. No-shows will affect their citizenship rating as well as the grade.
Students must bring to the lesson the necessary materials - music books, instruments and other equipment the teacher may require. Failure to do so will lower the grade.
To make good progress in their lessons students must put in the necessary practice time. A regular and consistent practice routine is recommended. Teachers will let the student know how much practice time is required for their instrument and will advise them on proper practice techniques.
