Wooster School's athletic celebrations are a unique experience. The athletics department continues to seek ways to balance the "team" experience with that of the "individual." Finding room for student-athletes, coaches, and parents to reflect and share their favorite memories is a community and team building exercise and one that we feel is important to the success of our program.

The Catwalk for a Cure event will be held on Thursday, March 7 at Wooster School, Forever Young Gymnasium, 91 Miry Brook Road, Danbury, CT 06810. Doors will open at 7:00 pm and the Fashion Show will begin at 7:30 pm. To purchase tickets or to make a donation, please visit http://woosterschool.org/catwalk.

The boys team is the #4 seed and will host #5 seed Storm King School on Wednesday, February 27 at 4:30 pm in the Forever Young Gymnasium. The girls team is the #6 seed and will travel to #3 seed Lexington Christian Academy on Wednesday, February 27 at 4:00 pm.

After 26 years of unrivaled success as the Wooster School Girls Varsity Basketball coach, Dave MacNutt will be stepping down at the end of this season. We are grateful to Coach MacNutt for having maintained a program that has exemplified all that the school stands for in terms of athletics: sportsmanship, teamwork, relationships, cooperation, and hard work.

Varsity Boys Basketball and Varsity Girls Basketball will be participating in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League Tournament this upcoming week. The boys team is the #1 seed for the fourth consecutive year and the girls team is the #2 seed, in each team's tournament.

Follow the adventures of six young, highly competitive word lovers, along with four pre-selected audience members who will agree to try their hands at the bee. Performances are Friday, February 22 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, February 23 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, Thursday, February 28 at 6:00 pm, Friday, March 1 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. in the Black Box Theatre.

Miriam delivered a talk to students taking courses in "Book Arts: The Intersection of Form and Content" and Studio Arts. She then led the students in a workshop, so that they each created their own artist book.

Yingkai received a Gold and a Silver Key for his two solar plate etchings, Bella won a Gold Key for her comic book An Unlikely Heist, and Michaela received an Honorable Mention for her comic drawing titled Privilege.

Wooster School twelfth grade student, Julia Bauer, received the Student of the Month Award from the Danbury chapter of the National Exchange club on January 10. The Danbury Exchange Club honors high school seniors who are outstanding students in school and community who have volunteered for service activities and have demonstrated academic success and leadership qualities.

The Wooster School Board of Trustees and Head of School, Matt Byrnes, have announced the phasing out of Wooster's Lower School program over the next two years. "While we have seen record enrollment growth in our Upper School program, which is up over 50% in the last five years, we have been unable to maintain healthy enrollment numbers in our Lower School."

Early last week, students from the Center for Social Impact enthusiastically collected turkeys and other donated food items from Wooster families, faculty, and staff for the Daily Bread Food Pantry.

Julia is one of about 34,000 Commended students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The girls cross country team won the 2018 Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) Championship and the boys team took home third place honors. Up next for the boys team is the New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division IV Cross Country Championships on November 10 at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, CT.
