As part of our Senior Seminar class, students take time to reflect on their growth and legacy as Wooster students.
Middle and high school are the foundation for the rest of our lives. These are years to experiment and discover more of who we are and who we want to be. They're a time to build close relationships with friends and teachers. They're years to look back at say "That school changed my life."
We hope this is the experience you're having. If it's not, or if you're just curious as to how school could be more, we invite you to discover how Wooster is thinking about school differently and setting its graduates up for success in the 21st century world.
Welcome to Wooster School
Can you see learning happen? We think so. Visit our campus and you will see students personally invested in their education and teachers creating meaningful interactions that empower students to think critically and communicate effectively. As students work to gain understanding in the classroom, we work to help them understand themselves and how they learn. This approach to developing the whole child yields graduates with strong learning and thinking skills as well as confident communicators who go on to successful careers in college and beyond.
Set on a pristine country hillside in Danbury, Connecticut, Wooster's campus encompasses over 100 acres. Within this environment, students from surrounding areas of New York and Connecticut begin to learn about life's lessons as they prepare for college and beyond. At Wooster, we help students discover joy in this journey along the rigorous road to becoming leaders for good in the world.
Our teachers welcome the opportunity to motivate and inspire students as they develop intellectually, spiritually, ethically, aesthetically, and physically. They have opportunities to reach and interact with their students on many levels. Donning the hats of advisors, coaches, mentors, or simply caring adults around the lunch table, teachers savor the chance to laugh, to have fun, and to be instrumental as confidence, caring, respect, integrity, and responsibility emerge in every child.
Families often ask what kind of student Wooster is looking for. That's simple. We look for boys and girls of character who demonstrate the ability to succeed in an academically challenging program. Equally important is the student's willingness to meet the behavioral expectations of the school and to contribute to the overall life of the community. From our youngest children entering kindergarten to those preparing for college, the experiences that each student encounters are created to educate the whole person.
A Wooster education enables a child to develop confidence and self-esteem, teaching him or her to embrace responsibility and to think critically as well as compassionately. Above all else,Wooster fosters a love of learning. Provided with the ingredients for success, students are prepared for a lifetime of academic excellence, and they are motivated to pursue their spiritual, physical, moral, and aesthetic possibilities.
There is much here to learn about our school and to help guide you through the admissions process. Nothing can replace the personal impression gained from a campus visit to help determine if Wooster is the right fit for your son or daughter. We welcome the opportunity to have you visit Wooster to see for yourself that ours is a unique and wonderful learning community.
