by: Brayan Tenesaca & Ryan Vincent

This week Brayan and Ryan interviewed Mr. Laurent S'Chevalier, a proud teacher from our Wooster community. Mr. S'Chevalier is a Mexican-American middle school teacher. He is a passionate, respected, and kind American history teacher with a bachelor's degree in political science and government from the University of Houston. When asked why he invests in the stock market, Mr. S'Chevalier emphasized the importance of focusing on the long term rather than the short term and mentioned that your investments should be in line with your goals.

As mentioned in the video, Mr. S'Chevalier's first two companies he invested in Dell Computers and Whole Foods, which both turned into multibillion-dollar companies. Dell Technologies is a personal computer company that develops and manufactures computers. Dell Technologies was founded in Austin, Texas by Michael S. Dell in 1984. Currently, Dell Technologies has a market value of 31 billion dollars. On the other hand, Whole Foods is a multi-international supermarket chain known for its organic sections. Whole Foods was founded in Austin, Texas, in 1980 and 37 years after it was founded, Amazon bought Whole Foods for 13 billion dollars. Amazon has a market value of more than 1 trillion dollars. Thanks to these initial investments and other investments over the years Mr. S'Chevalier has been able to grow his money exponentially and has been able to build a portfolio that he is more than happy with.
