Congratulations to the Graduates of the Class of 2026!

Wooster School held its Commencement Exercises on Friday, June 12 to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2026. These seniors join more than 3,000 alumni who have graduated since Wooster's founding in 1926.

President of the Wooster School Board of Trustees, Allen Purkiss, offered remarks to Wooster's soon-to-be graduates. “Marking this day is important, ceremony is important. This is the end of your time as a student at Wooster, we turn the page to a new beginning. That is why we call it Commencement.” Purkiss added, “Looking back, your time at Wooster went quickly. Things only speed up from here. Take advantage of this time, once it passes, you can’t get it back.”

Class orator Hannah Rogell ‘26 delivered some heartfelt remarks. “I am proud to say that we all made it through! That is proof enough that we can make it through change, and we can make it through the next chapter of our lives. Don’t forget how strong you are.” Rogell added, “Discovering the foundations of Wooster has made me appreciate the legacy it leaves. The people who made this school into what it was and is have a strong will and humble heart. Now that we are graduating, we are officially history!”

Before the seniors received their diplomas, Head of School Matt Byrnes spoke to the graduating class. “I really am excited about the opportunities that you have in front of you, and I think that you are well-prepared to be the kinds of people, the kinds of humans that we need right now. And I want you to know why I feel that way and why you should too.” Byrnes concluded, “I’m really, truly, and honestly excited about what comes next for you because I know that you know what to do. Rather than being afraid of all this, or intimidated, you’re going to keep becoming human with each other and with all the new humans you are about to meet. You can teach them what you know, through presence, and relationships, and love and perseverance. Time to get busy.”
