Student Life

We know that our students’ learning is rooted in their experience of community. We aspire that all students understand a true sense of belonging and that they develop relationships with peers and teachers that transcend simply sharing a classroom space or building. Building relationships strengthens self-awareness and develops important dispositions, and these goals are intertwined with all aspects of our program.

Adolescents learn best when they feel known as people and as learners. Our Middle School advisory program, our community lunches, access to and support from our Social Emotional Wellness team, weekly Community Time, and our experienced and caring team of teachers and administrators all weave together to ensure that no students are anonymous here, and that each student is understood as a person.

Advisory

The central mission for Advisory is for the Advisor to know their Advisees and provide another adult resource and source of counsel for them on campus. The advisory is one part of students’ strong sense of belonging to the Wooster community, and a part of the foundation that they build on to develop independence and self-advocacy skills.

Self-Help

Self-help has been one of the fundamental principles at Wooster since the School's founding in 1926. It is a philosophy that places total responsibility for the physical environment of the school on the students.
