Introducing the Editorial Team

Introducing the Editorial Team

This year, the new G period class, DLI Editorial Leadership, Ethics and Media Studies, offers a new perspective on student publication. With support from Ms. Newman, students will be taking control of WiNK behind the scenes, running editorial meetings, coming up with content ideas and editing work from peers.

The editing process has been broken down into different teams. The Standards Team focuses on spelling, grammar, AP style and ensuring all facts are ethical and accurate. The Production Team helps craft Hed and Deks, along with photos, captions, and thumbnails. Finally, the Content Team’s goal is to review pitches, assign stories, edit WiNK emails and the website. Every student in the class will have the opportunity to contribute in every role.

“Taking this class allows me to understand the different sides to journalism, and all of the work behind the scenes that goes into creating a successful publication," says Crosby, a senior who has taken journalism since her freshman year.

Ms. Newman’s goal when creating the course was to “give students the opportunity to take ownership over WiNK, and guide the direction of the student publication.”

We are so excited to gain confidence as writers and editors throughout this year, and watch WiNK develop thanks to the devoted student participants.

Stay tuned for more to come!!
