Every year, Wooster holds a sports celebration to recognize each team's dedication and growth, as well as all the hard work the athletes put in during practices and games. Four students from each team will receive one of the four awards:
Most Valuable Player: The player who, in the eyes of the coach, is the best in that specific sport. This award is based on skill and ability, along with that player's ability to showcase his or her talents at practice and during games.
General Award: The player who has demonstrated great leadership throughout the season. This player shows great initiative, integrity, takes responsibility for the physical and emotional health of himself/herself and of the team as a whole, and demonstrates the willingness to learn and bounce back from mistakes.
Coach's Award: The player who, in the coach's eyes, is the most integral player on the team. This may be a player who holds the team together, who is most committed, who is committed to helping others, who volunteers to help out, etc. It may be the player who has put the most time and effort into getting better.
Most Improved Award: The player who has shown the greatest growth over the course of the season. This player has demonstrated a strong work ethic, persistence through challenges, a willingness to learn and be coached, and a commitment to developing both skill and confidence in their role on the team.
General Manager Award: The managers who provided great support and performance to their team during practices and games, including outstanding game management at the score table.
