Pitch Side Report: February Update

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. We have been gone a long time, but we are back, and we are ready to run you through what's happened in the world of footy, and we've got some ballers balling. We are here to show you the side of football that no one does with deep stories about European football, leading us into the World Cup here in the US.

Ian: So far, as a Liverpool fan, our season has been massively underwhelming. We started great, winning 5 out of 5 going into the first international break, but after the break, Liverpool proceeded to go on to the next 5 games, losing 4 of them consecutively and winning in a Champions League game 5-1 vs. Eintracht Frankfurt. But since the first 5 games, Liverpool has been on the worst run ever in club history since the 1953-54 season. So pretty bad.

Jayden: Being a Bayern fan this year has been outstanding! We have won every game except one this season in the Bundesliga. Harry Kane, my favorite player, has had an outstanding season with  24 goals in 21 matches. I am so excited to watch the rest of the season!

Premier League

Arsenal are in pole position as we enter February, with Manchester City and Aston Villa 4 points behind, after Arsenal dropped points to Manchester United, beating them 3-2 with two wonder goals from Matheus Cuhna and Patrick Dorgu. As Aston Villa beat Newcastle 2-0 at St. James Park in Newcastle, with goals from Emi Buendia and Ollie Watkins.

Serie A

Inter Milan is leading Serie A with 55 points after winning against US Cremonese, who is 15th in Serie A, 2-0 with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Piotr Zielinski. Their hometown rivals, AC Milan, are in 2nd place, trailing Inter Milan by 8 points. They won against Bologna 2-0 to keep themselves in the title race with Inter Milan.

La Liga

Barcelona leads the table with 55 points, with Real Madrid 1 point behind and aiming to overtake.  Atlético Madrid is in 3rd place, 10 points behind first-place Barcelona.  Mbappe is at the top of the scoring charts with 23 goals. The wonder kid Lemine Yamal has led assists with 8. This season has been very competitive with the Golden Boot.

Champions League

The Champions League is out of the group phase, with Arsenal in first, Bayern Munich in second, and Liverpool in third. They will all move to the round of sixteen. Surprisingly, Napolie did not make the cut and finished 30th. On Wednesday, Real Madrid lost to Benfica 4-2, with Benfica’s goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin scoring in the 97th minute. Liverpool crushed Qarabag in a staggering 6-0 win. PSG, last year’s winner, placed eleventh, drawing 1-1 with Newcastle. Chelsea (6th) and Tottenham (4th), both new clubs this year, have progressed to the next round.

Bundesliga

In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich, last year's champions, are in the lead again with fifty points, losing only one game so far this season. Dortmund, seven points behind Bayern, is having a great season. Bayern did not perform well, losing to the thirteenth-placed Augsburg.  Leverkusen is having one of its worst seasons in recent memory, with six losses so far,  dropping them to sixth place. Mainz, ST. Pauli and Heidenheim are all in a relegation battle. Harry Kane is leading the scoreboard with twenty-one goals, and Michael Olise is the assist leader with 14.
