Spring teams are about halfway into their season, and Wooster's Ultimate Frisbee team has started the season very well, winning its first game against Storm King. Players have been practicing, playing in games, and have been very excited for the season ahead. Not only has the team grown and gained many new players who are excited to get better and play in the sport, but there are also returning players who are ready to improve even more.
Mr. Fischer has been the head coach of the Wooster Ultimate Frisbee team for four years now and is looking forward to another great season. Mr Fisher has been playing since he was in 9th grade, when Ultimate Frisbee was very competitive at his high school, and he was even the varsity captain!
He led this team to win a state championship in 2023 and a state championship appearance in 2024. The Wooster team also won a lot of games in 2025, ending with 5 wins and 4 losses.
“So far this season has been going great,” Mr. Fischer said. “We had our first victory, and I think this team can win a lot!” Since then, the team has played many more games, continuing to improve and get better as a team!
One thing that makes this team so unique is its community and sportsmanship. Unlike many other sports, ultimate frisbee players referee themselves.
"Every player on the field is a ref,” Mr. Fisher explained. “The spirit of the game is about making good calls.”
Being able to trust the players around you is something every player loves, and this is an example of what the community in ultimate frisbee looks like.
This team, in particular, is known for its excited and welcoming community. Asher '27 joined ultimate for the teammates and coaches.
“By the nature of ultimate, everyone who is there actually wants to be there,” Asher said. “They are all very positive and supportive.”
Senior and captain Austin has been a part of this team for four years now, but has been playing since 8th grade. Hoping to lead the team to lots of victories, Austin also wants to help his team improve together.

“A goal for this team is to try to be a good frisbee captain to my teammates so they can be better while also getting better each day myself,” he said.
As the season continues, the ultimate frisbee team will continue to improve and grow as players, a community,m and as leaders. They already have such a great spirit and dedication and are ready for another amazing season!
