The 1927 Baseball Team's records.
Every year, as the weather warms up, we transition from winter to spring athletics, and baseball is a highlight of the season. The Wooster baseball team has existed since the spring of 1927, which was the first year Wooster opened!
This year, the team has 11 players competing. They have one captain, senior Drew, who has been on the team since his freshman year. So far, the team has gone 7-2, ending in some tough wins and some losses. Austin, a freshman on the baseball team, has been really impressed with the way his team has been playing this season.
“The team is really good, I'm really proud of us.” Austin said, “There has been a lot of improvement, especially from Atlas. I have been really impressed with him. We're playing with good chemistry, and doing great, and that's really all anyone can ask for.”
The team hopes for a positive turnout this season and is hopeful of a good outcome in HVALS this year, as they have competed against some strong teams this year. Trey is a sophomore on the baseball team. He plays shortstop as well as pitcher, and he shared that the baseball season is the highlight of his school year.
“I predict we will have a strong rest of the season,” he said. “We have been doing really well except for one loss, and I expect we'll continue to do well. We have a good team this year, and everyone is doing well, so I have a good feeling about HVALs.”
Along with Trey, the rest of the team is really optimistic about this season. Next week, they will compete in the HVAL tournament, and we are wishing them luck!
