The boys' athlete spotlight goes to Jackson ’26. He is a member and alternate captain of the Wooster-Harvey co-op hockey team and plays defense. He’s one of the fastest skaters on the team, and always puts in effort into every drill. Jackson has been playing hockey for over 10 years and is leading the team in points.
“He is easily the craftiest on the team and always converts defense into offense,” teammate Patrick ’28 said.
In a game against Wilbraham and Monson Academy on Jan. 22, he played a very defensively sound game and even had chances on the offensive side. Jackson had a nice goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 and then a crafty assist to bring it to 3-2. Unfortunately, the boys lost 4-2, but not without an effort from Jackson.
The spotlight falls on Katie ’27, a dedicated and hardworking player on the girls’ basketball team!

Katie first joined the varsity team her freshman year, immediately putting in the work and bringing the skills that she had from practicing outside of school. Katie has a killer instinct when it comes to basketball and always knows whether she should pass, drive to the basket or take a jumpshot. Having the ability to make quick decisions can make a huge impact in a game and be the difference between keeping the ball on offense or getting a turnover.
“She’s very resilient,” her teammate, Camilla ’27, said. “Even when she’s on the ground fighting for the ball, she gets back up and has a smile on her face.”
Katie is also an amazing shooting guard and makes a very high percentage of her shots, whether she is in practice or in a game. Because of this, Katie has earned the iconic nickname “Katie Buckets,” and all her teammates cheer after she makes a basket.
On Jan. 24, the girls took on King School, currently holding the number one spot in the league. Katie fought for every ball and consistently gave her team offensive opportunities. Throughout the whole game, she played strategically and aggressively.
Katie is also one of the most supportive players, bringing energy before games and cheering every time a basket is made in practice. This support is crucial as it motivates everyone to work harder in practice and keep pushing themselves.
Keep up the great work, Katie Buckets!
