On Friday, October 11, boys varsity soccer traveled to Trinity Pawling. In previous games against Trinity Pawling, it has been very physically challenging and close scoring. Last year when we played them for the first game of the season, we unfortunately lost, so this game was our revenge game. From kickoff, Trinity Pawling passed the ball around very well, but they weren’t able to get past our defense. Our first goal came from a counter attack from senior Vega Farro. Vega dribbled past many defenders on the right side of the field and played a cross to Brayan Tenesaca who scored a header. After this goal we controlled the rest of the game. Brayan scored two more goals and Jordan Seng scored one. We won 4-0 in a match-up against one of the most difficult opponents we have played all year.
On Saturday, October 19, we traveled over two hours to Williams School to play them on their Family Day. The NEPSAC tournament had Williams above us on the bracket, so we made it our goal to send a message. Many goals were scored in this game. Brayan scored five goals, junior Jaden Lender scored his first goal of the season, Vega scored one goal, and sophomore Will Lynch scored two. Wooster beat Williams 9-2.
The biggest game of the last two weeks happened Monday, October 24. We were ready to play Christian Heritage School at home. The reason this game was so special was because before this game, Brayan had scored 95 goals in his Wooster career. When kickoff started, it was noticed that the team and Brayan were determined to get him his 100th goal. Shortly after kickoff, Brayan shot the ball at the keeper. The keeper managed to save it, but it found senior Jack Foster in front of the goal and he shot and scored putting us up 1-0. Throughout the first half, Brayan took many shots, trying to get the perfect amount of goals for 100. Brayan was able to score his first goal after dribbling through the whole backline. A few minutes later, he did the same thing, scoring his second goal of the game. Later on, Jordan was awarded a freekick from about 25 years out. Brayan decided to take the freekick. Brayan shot the ball to the bottom left corner and it went in, resulting in his hat trick. The half ended with Brayan being at 99 goals.
When the second half started, Brayan tried to do everything in his power to get his 100th goal. Many shots were taken from Brayan and many people on the field were trying to get the assist. After 15 minutes, it happened. Jack passed the ball to Brayan around the 40 yard line. Brayan took a big touch around the Christian Heritage midfield and chased the ball. Brayan dribbled around two more defenders and then shot the ball into the bottom left corner of the net scoring his 100th goal. Brayan hit the milestone that many Wooster soccer players haven’t been able to do, and is the first to do it since Parker Etzbach ‘22. On top of this moment, we won 7-1 because Will scored another goal before the game ended.
On Wednesday, October 23, we went to Watkinson to play them for the second time this year. At kickoff we were dominating, but the final score didn’t portray that. Brayan scored the first goal, but then shortly later Watkinson scored. As soon as they scored, Jordan shot from 50 yards out at kickoff and scored making the score 2-1. About ten minutes later, Watkinson scored again. After this goal, we took advantage of our chances. We won this game 6-3.
Tomorrow is Boys Soccer's Senior Day. We play Forman School. The game starts at 1:00 and we would all love the support from the Wooster Community.
