Brayan Tenesaca
Boys Varsity Soccer
The male athlete of the week this week comes from the boys varsity soccer team, in senior and captain, Brayan Tenesaca. Brayan, #10, hit a huge milestone worth an article in and of itself after reaching 100 goals in his high school career. Sitting at 95 goals at the start of the game against Christian Heritage on Monday, he certainly showed out and dropped 5 more by the end of the game, reaching his goal of 100 big ones. The final goal, finishing the reach to 100, came after he took on several defenders, shooting from just inside the 18 and placing the ball into the bottom corner. He charged to the corner followed by his teammates to celebrate the huge milestone in front of friends, family, peers, teachers, and teammates alike. With a handful of regular season games left and heading into playoffs, let's see how far the captain can get past 100. Congrats Brayan!!
Alexandra Kriegel
Girls Varsity Soccer
The female athlete of the week goes to Girls Varsity Soccer and team captain Alexandra Kriegel. Alexandra has had a great season so far, showing off her leadership and being a great role model to the younger players. This past Thursday the girls played a solid Storm King Team. Alexandra was the player to watch as she scored a perfectly placed PK to the mid right that had the crowd roaring in excitement. Alexandra was lightning quick on the field, beat the defenders to the spot, and played a great all around game that led the team to a 3-0 victory. She has shown her great passing this season as she is leading the team in assists showing her unselfishness and willingness to make her teammates better. All four years she has played, she has always has shown her improvement from season to season as her skills have developed tremendously and she has been the leader the team needs this season. Alexandra and the girls varsity soccer as they play an important away game at Watkinson on Monday, and then celebrate their Senior Day next Friday at home versus Christian Heritage!
