WiNK Girls Athlete of the Week
#1 Saje Cilento
The sophomore middie takes the crown for this week as Saje and the girls lacrosse team ran rampant over rival Harvey. Saje led the young team to a 20-8 win while she scored 9 goals and assisted numerous times, won the majority of draw controls, and flat out dominated the Cavaliers. The Generals, still with pent up anger from the 2022 HVAL championship loss to the Cavs, let it all out on the field. Saje went two ways while she kept the Cavs down on the scoresheet and upped the Generals score. And the best part about it, she’s only a sophomore. Saje is easily the best field player in HVAL and can lead the Generals to the championship. This lacrosse team is young, talented, and fearless. They can flat out take over games with their young core starting with Saje. A lot to come on this team, Congrats Saje!
WiNK Boys Athlete of the Week
Vega Farro
Vega shined for the boys Ultimate team against Hotchkiss on Wednesday. He scored four and assisted numerous goals while locking down on defense. Vega worked closely with Lyosha Willcox and Jack Zahner to catch deep passes and in cuts for scores. Vega also established the stack constantly and conducted the offense to perfection. His throws were placed to perfection on his numerous assists. But defense is where his performance stood out. Vega ran in the cup in the zone, meaning that he chased the disc around for the whole point. Vega forced multiple bad throws and even a few blocks that he picked up and assisted teammates streaking deep. The team won 15-8 to take the win over the Bearcats led by Farro, nice work Vega!
