Friends of Mitch Wilson '83 Visit Campus in his Memory

In March, a group of Wooster alumni met and gathered on campus to celebrate the life of their dear friend and classmate Mitch Wilson ‘83.

According to Claire Gladstone '85, who organized the event, they started at the barn and walked up through the gym building. After looking at the plaques and trophies, and storytelling, they walked up the hill to the main part of campus; first the dining room and upper classrooms (old dorms) for more storytelling, then into the Chapel and below…. Ending in the Archives room in the Grover Basement.

There, they looked through old yearbooks and photos that had been left for them by the Archives team, and Claire handed out cards they had made for Mitch and watched a video Mitch’s wife made for them.

“The memories and bond we all share from our days at Wooster are so evident during special moments like this,” Claire said after the event. What a very special way for this group to honor Mitch, and to gather back on campus to reminisce, reenact a photo, and make new memories. (see photos below)

I am alive and well. I have been living in Colorado Springs for the past 8 years. I am looking forward to attending my 50th reunion as well as the 100th anniversary of Wooster School. I hope to see everyone soon.

Hello, Way back in 2001, I took advantage of Wooster's study abroad program. I can't speak for anyone else and I don't know if the program still exists after Mrs. Eynon retired, but I've stayed in contact with my French family this entire time and we're still very close. I just got back from celebrating my French father's 81st birthday, which was an additional blessing because his health has been in decline for a little over a year. I wasn't able to bring my family for this trip, but I went by myself and had a great time regardless. I wanted to share this and ask if Mrs. Eynon is still around and if I can get in touch with her at all? Please let me know, Best, Andrew Collard P.S. I've attached two photos: one of the whole family and a silly picture of my French sister and I. (see photos below)

Hello Wooster.! In 1975 I spent my sophomore year in France thanks to Wooster's year abroad program. 50 years ago.! That year was life changing for me. I actually moved to France after college and have been here ever since. I have stayed in close touch with my host family.. and yesterday we celebrated this 50 year anniversary. You will find attached two photos…one from 1975 which was published in the brochure Wooster printed for the program and one taken yesterday (6/24/25). Same people, same place. My French Family in front of the farm house in Provence! I am on the far right. A special anniversary for sure! I thought you all might enjoy these photos! (see photos below)

On Friday, June 13, Wooster welcomed 59 new alumni – the members of the Class of 2025. The scene was a familiar one: the crowd gathered under the tent on Coburn Lawn, the faculty and staff, followed by the seniors, headed out of the Chapel, where they held their last gathering in the Quaker meeting, and processed to the bagpipes down the sidewalk and into the tent.

The Wooster Archivists dug deep into the school's first commencement ceremony and uncovered that Wooster School held its first graduation in 1929, three years after opening. The second followed in 1930, alongside the laying of its chapel cornerstone and the release of its first yearbook. From those early beginnings, Wooster has continued to grow and thrive.
