From Strength to Strength, a conversation with former Headmaster, John Cheeseman ‘57 and current Head of School, Matt Byrnes

Virtual Conversation with Head of School Matt Byrnes

Thursday, March 30 at 6:00 pm

At Wooster, we recognize that every child is unique. That's why our program and our culture are designed to put students at the center of everything we do. Surrounded by an inclusive community and talented and caring faculty, our students learn to know themselves as people and learners, and embrace new, diverse, and rigorous opportunities. Bolstered by a sense of belonging they become engaged with school: learning how to learn, and how they best learn. They develop confidence in who they are and who they want to be. They go on to best fit colleges, prepared as lifelong learners to adapt in an evolving world.

You may wonder just how this all happens at Wooster. Take a few minutes to watch the video above, a conversation with former Headmaster, John Cheeseman ‘57 and current Head of School, Matt Byrnes. We then invite you to a virtual webinar where Mr. Byrnes will answer questions that you may have about Wooster School.

Seniors tell their unique Wooster stories, whether they are "lifers" and have been here since Middle School, or joined our community mid-way through their Upper School experience. True to our student-centered ethos, the panel will be moderated by our Seniors themselves.

You will also learn more about the Deep Learning Initiative (DLI) at Wooster School. DLI are Wooster’s most rigorous courses, created by our talented faculty and built around the interests of our students. Far more flexible and inspiring than Advanced Placement, DLI pushes students to find their own voice and be creative in the pursuit of sophisticated, original thought.

Middle School Panel - The Middle School Experience

Many middle schools start in 6th grade, but at Wooster’s Middle School, we start in the 5th grade. This allows us to take four years, 5th through 8th grade, to really get to know our students, establishing strong relationships and ensuring a strong foundation for their future.

Our Middle School team will explain how our small classes, access to learning opportunities, and personal attention, helps students build the skills they need for Upper School and confidence in who they are and who they want to be. This is the Middle School your child should experience!
