As with any independent school, Wooster relies heavily on its many volunteers. Their overwhelming contributions of time, talent, and resources enrich our community in countless ways. We are grateful for the leadership that each and every volunteer provides by sharing their gifts with our community.
Volunteer Opportunities 2007-08
There are many ways to get involved in the Wooster community. Below are several volunteer opportunities for the coming school year. Even if you have a demanding schedule, some of these volunteer positions require only a few hours of your time.
School Photo Day – Photographer’s Assistants Needed
· Upper/Middle School, Tuesday, September 18
· Lower School, Wednesday, September 19
Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day - November 21, 2007
· Planning (preparing name tags, schedules, etc.)
· Tuesday, November 20 - Dining Room Set-up, Art Show Displays
· Registration/Sign In/Tour guides/Book Store volunteers
Auction – April 12, 2008
Volunteer for one of the committees:
- Donations/Decorations/Catering/Entertainment/Advertising/Printing
- General help that week -- Set-up/Clean-up
Golf Outing – Sunday, May 4, 2008
· Pre-event preparation/Course Volunteer/Registration
· Sponsorship opportunities available
Admissions Volunteers
· Serve as a Mentor family/Host at Open Houses
· Serve as a Wooster representative for prospective families from your community
Adopt-a-Street
· Meet on Saturdays once a month to clean up Miry Brook Road (schedule TBA)
Annual Giving
· Mailings – help fold and stuff periodic mailings
· Phonathons – call other parents to encourage their participation
Art Volunteers
· Art Center Volunteers (e.g., at open houses)
· Help hang student shows in the Dining Room
· Help with Lower School (K & 1) Art Classes
Book Fairs
· Help distribute flyers and vouchers for Fall & Spring book fairs
Chapel Volunteers
· Help Chaplain set up Chapel for services and special events
Parent Press Corps.
· Help Pass along newsworthy info about your child's activities outside of Wooster (e.g., community service initiatives) to Anne Gilson, Parent Press Associate. anne.gilson@woosterschool.org or 203.830.3997
Hospitality at Parents’ Association Meetings
· Responsible for coffee, refreshments/Sign up for one date below

· Meets Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am in the Dining Room
· Beginners and experienced knitters welcome
