Dear Prospective Families,

Welcome to Wooster School - where an exceptional education is far more than just outstanding academics!

Set on a pristine country hillside in Danbury, Connecticut, Wooster's campus encompasses over 100 acres. Within this environment, students from surrounding areas of New York and Connecticut begin to learn about life's lessons as they prepare for college and beyond. At Wooster, we help students see that there is joy in this journey along the rigorous road to becoming leaders for good in the world.

In doing so, our teachers welcome the opportunity to motivate and inspire students as they develop intellectually, spiritually, ethically, aesthetically, and physically. Our teachers have opportunities to reach and interact with their students on many levels. Donning the hats of advisors, coaches, and mentors, or simply friends around the lunch table, teachers savor the chance to laugh, to have fun, and to be instrumental as confidence, caring, respect, integrity, and responsibility emerge in every child.

Families often ask what kind of student is Wooster looking for. That's simple. We look for boys and girls of character who demonstrate the ability to succeed in an academically demanding program. Equally important is the student's willingness to meet the behavioral expectations of the school and to contribute to the overall life of the community. From our youngest children entering  Pre-Kindergarten to those preparing for college, the experiences that each student encounters are designed to educate the whole person.

A Wooster education enables a child to develop confidence and self-esteem, teaching him or her to embrace responsibility and to think critically as well as compassionately. Above all else, Wooster fosters a love of learning. Provided with the ingredients for success, students are prepared for a lifetime of academic excellence as well as motivated to pursue their spiritual, physical, moral, and aesthetic possibilities.

It is our intention that this website will serve as a resource to you about the Wooster Difference. There is much here to learn about our school and to help guide you through the admissions process.  But nothing can replace the personal impression available from a campus visit to help you determine if Wooster is the right fit for your son or daughter.  We would welcome the opportunity to have you visit Wooster to see for yourself that ours is a unique and wonderful learning community.
